Dr. Tevis Harris is a worship leader, songwriter, recording artist, educator, and nationally recognized leadership speaker whose passion is helping people encounter God through authentic worship and purposeful living. Whether leading a congregation in worship, speaking to educators across the country, or encouraging families through music, his mission remains the same—to point people toward Jesus.

 

A native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Tevis has spent much of his life serving both the church and the community. From singing in church choirs as a young boy to directing worship teams and choirs throughout North Carolina, music has always been more than a talent—it has been a calling.

 

Throughout his ministry, Tevis has shared the stage with respected gospel artists including Bishop F.C. Barnes & Company, Pastor Luther Barnes, the Red Budd Gospel Choir, and numerous worship ministries throughout the country. His songwriting has also extended beyond his own recordings, penning songs for other artists including Mercy Street Worship and Pastor Latoya Brewington.

 

His recording career began with the release of Fight in 2019, followed by the critically received Keep Winning album in 2021. The project introduced listeners to songs such as Begin Again, which earned national radio attention, including being featured as the Lonnie Hunter Morning Show GET IT DONE Guest of the Week, New Music Friday on Inspiration 1390, and numerous syndicated gospel radio programs across the United States.

 

Subsequent releases, including Hope Is Alive and It Will Work Out featuring Latoya Brewington, continued establishing Tevis as a songwriter whose music combines biblical truth, rich harmonies, and messages of hope for everyday life.

 

Now, Tevis enters a new chapter with his debut Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) release, As For Me And My House. Inspired by Joshua 24:15, the song is more than a worship anthem—it is a declaration calling families to boldly choose Christ. Born from prayer, meditation on Scripture, and collaboration with songwriter Demetric Smith, the song became something Tevis knew he could not simply write for someone else. It became his personal declaration and ultimately the message he believes God has called him to share with the world:

Beyond music, Dr. Harris is an accomplished educational leader currently serving as Principal of William R. Davie Middle STEM Academy in Halifax County, North Carolina. Known nationally for transforming schools, developing innovative STEM programs, and speaking on educational leadership, he has presented at conferences across the United States while remaining committed to servant leadership in every arena.

 

He is also the author of I Am Okay With Me, a children's book encouraging confidence, identity, and self-worth in young readers.

 

Throughout his career, Tevis has been featured by television networks, newspapers, magazines, podcasts, and nationally syndicated radio programs, receiving multiple nominations from organizations including the Rhythm of Gospel Awards, Prayze Factor Awards, Kingdom Image Awards, Independent Gospel Artist Alliance, and the Onyx Urban Media Awards.

 

Above every title and accomplishment, however, Tevis considers his greatest calling to be serving God faithfully as a husband and father. He is married to Dr. Janeé Avent Harris, and together they are raising their two children, Carsen and Nolan, with the prayer that their home will always reflect the words of Joshua 24:15:

 

"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

 

Today, through music, ministry, leadership, and family, Dr. Tevis Harris continues to inspire people to live with faith, lead with purpose, and worship with authenticity.
