
MEET DR. TEVIS
THE EDUCATOR
Dr. Tevis Harris has over 20+ years of experience in education as a teacher, school administrator, and national presenter. He has a demonstrated record of academic achievement with marginalized schools and communities. Dr. Harris is skilled in K-12 education, customer service, classroom management, Curriculum and Instruction, Equity and Access, Race & Rurality, admissions, and academic advising. He received a terminal degree in Educational Leadership and Administration with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. Dr. Harris is certified in K-6 Elementary Education, 6-9 Social Studies, 9-12 Social Studies, and as a K-12 Principal and Reading Specialist. He is also certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) as a National Board Certified Teacher in Adolescent Science (NBCT). He partners with East Carolina University's College of Education Rural Education Institute (REI) on creating innovative solutions to help rural communities and schools understand the intersection of race and rurality. During his spare time, Dr. Harris enjoys spending time with his family, singing, writing, presenting, and engaging in collegial conversations around equity, access, and opportunity for all. One of his future goals is to write children books to inspire courage and self-love.
